The common kingfisher is one of those birds that never feels ordinary. No matter how many times I see one, that flash of bright blue always catches me by surprise.
When I created this piece, I kept thinking about how special those brief wildlife encounters can be. Most of the time, kingfishers appear for only a few seconds before disappearing again. It's the kind of moment that makes you stop what you're doing and simply watch.
I think that's part of what makes them so memorable. They're a reminder that some of nature's most beautiful moments can't be planned. You just have to be lucky enough to be there when they happen.
